Airtel Promises 3G in India by Year-end

Are you really excited about the 3G network services?

Airtel Promises 3G in India by Year-end

Following the announcement to launch 3G by TATA DoCoMo and Vodafone, Airtel has promised to bring 3G wireless data services. While major rival Vodafone promised to bring 3G data services by the first quarter of next year, Airtel boldly announced that it will launch 3G by this year-end itself, reported The Wall Street Journal. Bharti Airtel has bagged 3G Spectrum rights in 13 telecom zones out of 22 telecom zones in India. So hopefully, by year-end you can get lucky enough to be the early adopter of 3G services from Airtel.
Tata Teleservices had promised to launch 3G services by November 5 while Vodafone has promised to bring it early next year. Airtel will roll out 3G phase wise in its 13 telecom zones that include key zones such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. So far, the 3G services available from BSNL and MTNL haven't been widely available or adopted. People in several major circles await the roll out of 3G wireless data services at competitive and affordable tariffs.
The 3G services might be costly initially since all major telecom operators have bid in billions to acquire rights in 3G spectrum for India. Also, the infrastructure installation and support services would be increasing weight on their shoulders. Still, it is difficult to say whether one should go for it or not. When 2G data services were introduced in India, a very small number of lucky individuals got to use it for free and still continue to do so. Yes, it's true but don't expect the same for 3G services.
Our question to you all readers would be: Are you ready to take a chance and pay more for the faster data services promised by mobile operators? Leave us a comment and let us know.
